Pumpkin Mug
Handmade ceramics mugs. Thrown on the wheel then hand-carved to imitate the organic bumps and grooves of an autumn pumpkin.
No two alike.
Lovely milky raw-clay exterior with white glazed interior.
Roughly ~3.5" x 3" (Give or take half an inch)
---
I happened upon this design early in September while experimenting with some pumpkin shapes. I love the way the carved exteriors resemble wood-working, and how carving the surface preserves the inner profile of the cup and (round) rim.
My works are often inspired by nature, but the trick is finding the right balance of image and subtlety. These mugs suggest a pumpkin, while remaining a cup. The neutral colours keep things modern, while the playfulness is all in the form.
They fit perfectly into a modern kitchen.
Despite being fully functional, these pieces take a lot of time and patience to make. Each one is a little sculpture, crafted with intention and personality. To be used as a cup and enjoyed as a piece of art.
Care instructions
- Food safe
- Hand-wash
- *Avoid boiling liquids!
- Do not microwave
* The carved surface means parts of these cups are quite thin and could be prone to cracking if exposed to extreme temperature changes. Not suitable for boiling water. Allow boiling hot liquids (such as tea) to cool slightly before pouring into cup.
Made by human hands!
These pieces are handmade, and each one is truly one-of-a-kind. Please expect some gorgeous variation in shape and size between pieces. No two are exactly the same.
You may also find small "marks of the maker" - finger prints, marks in the clay body or variations in the glaze. These small 'imperfections' are an inevitable part of the making process, and proud proof that the piece was made by my own hands.
